In recent years, Pentalver has developed a strong partnership with EWS Railways, now part of DB Schenker.

In Southampton, a rail handling facility for import and export containers using the Port was started in 2006. At its peak, this operation handled up to 40 trains per week using specialised side-loading machinery manufactured by Fantuzzi-Noel. Turnaround times for trains are, on average, significantly faster than those at nearby purpose-built rail terminals.

In March 2008 a similar operation commenced at the Port of Ipswich. At present, two trains per day are currently serviced, with a shunting operation in place to transport containers to the nearby Port of Felixstowe.

Our depot at Cannock is equipped with its own rail siding, and may be devloped in the future for direct rail-handling.
