Our History

Pentalver Transport began operations in 1980 in Southampton, offering road haulage services to shipping lines using the Port of Southampton. Since that time, the company has expanded and diversified and is now widely regarded as the leading provider of container-related activities in the UK. The company now has 4 depots throughout the UK including Felixstowe, Southampton, Cannock, and London Gateway. These depots have a combined 92 acres and a combined TEU capacity of 37500.

Pentalver, now after 30 years of business within this industry have a fantastic insight into logistical requirements of the 21st century. Since 1995 Pentalver were part of the AP Moeller-Maersk group.

In December 2016, it was announced that APM Terminals had reached an agreement to divest UK Pentalver to Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (G&W) a United States-based, global operator of short line and regional railroads. On 3rd May 2017 Genesee & Wyoming inc. completed its acquisition of all of the issued share capital of Pentalver Transport Limited.
