Pentalver were once again proud to be out in the local community supporting Blue Coat Academy in Walsall with a passport 2 employment skill day. The desired outcome of the skills day was to inspire career aspirations of young people and for them to recognise the importance of technology.
The skills day took place at the Academy in March and involved a challenge for a team of year 9 students to compete in teams against one another in an interactive challenge. This included choosing job roles, planning, designing and producing a solution to a challenge whilst pitching their solution to a panel of judges. The task focused on designing and building an intelligent transport system. Pentalver Cannock general manager Nick Matthews visited the school to help out the students as a transport technical expert for the day.
Nick helped guide and offer advice to the students in various challenges that the team faced when building their intelligent transport system which Nick’s vast knowledge and experience of the importance of things such as environmental impact, advantages and disadvantages of certain materials for parts to create an ideal transport system. Speaking about the day Nick Matthews said “bringing the logistics into the minds of tomorrows workforce is vital to our industry and events such as these are so important to do just that, it was also fun and an education for me too”.
Pentalver are proud to help out in the local community and it proved to be a great day of learning and fun for everyone involved.
